Select Community News

Editorial policy

Select Community News aims to be clear about what a piece says, what it does not establish and how readers can raise a concern. Our coverage is intended to help readers think about community life, not to speak for every place or group.

Accuracy and care

We check names, wording and factual statements before publication and distinguish explanation from opinion. We avoid making up examples and do not present general suggestions as rules that apply everywhere. If a piece relies on a particular context, we aim to make that context plain. We may revise a page when its wording is unclear or information needs updating.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial choices are made separately from partnership arrangements. When a piece or placement is paid for, provided by a partner or created as a collaboration, it will be clearly labelled so readers can recognise its status. A partner relationship does not guarantee favourable editorial coverage.

Corrections and reader questions

If you spot a factual error or a passage that could mislead, contact us with the page and the detail you are concerned about. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, update the text in a clear way. We welcome questions about sourcing, framing and the limits of an article.

Images and illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Where this is the case, we label the image or its accompanying caption so readers are not led to mistake an illustration for a documentary photograph.

What we look for

Connection grows through small acts of care

A place becomes more than a location when people have ways to meet, contribute and share what they know. We look at the choices that can make those moments feel natural.
